The structure and installation logic of 3D hinges

2025-09-10

Three-dimensional hinges are hinge accessories in door and window hardware systems that combine functional practicality with a discreet appearance . Their core features include embedded installation, three-dimensional spatial adaptation, and multi-dimensional adjustment . They are widely used in scenarios such as building doors and windows, and furniture door panels.

1. Structure and installation logic

3D hinges achieve a concealed connection between the door leaf and the door frame through a three-dimensional wrapping fit . During installation, the three-dimensional dimensions (thickness, width, and height) of the frame and leaf profiles must be precisely matched to ensure the hinge blades are flush with the door surface, with no exposed hinge shaft, and the sealing strip maintains a closed-loop connection. The installation process includes four steps: "groove positioning → grooving → hinge fixing → commissioning":

  • The slot line positioning needs to use a laser to control the error (≤0.5mm);

  • The groove depth must ensure that the hinge blade is flush with the door surface;

  • When fixing, install the upper blade first and then the lower blade. The opening angle must be ≥90° to avoid automatic closing.

  • During the debugging phase, it is necessary to open and close the machine repeatedly to check for smoothness. If it gets stuck, it needs to be readjusted.

2. Performance and Applicable Scenarios

  • Sealing performance : Reduces air infiltration by 20% - 30% compared to surface-mounted hinges, and increases the thermal insulation value of the entire window by 0.3 - 0.5W/(m²·K), making it suitable for energy-saving buildings.

  • Opening Angle : Due to structural limitations, it is usually between 90° and 110°, which is sufficient for daily ventilation but cannot achieve a 180° opening.

  • Load-bearing rating : 80kg - 150kg rating available, suitable for single-layer glass doors (80kg - 110kg), insulating glass doors (80kg - 150kg), and security doors (130kg - 150kg).

  • Narrow frame adaptability : It breaks through the limitation of traditional surface-mounted hinges on the visible surface of the frame material ≥45mm, and can adapt to extremely narrow frames of 20mm, but 3D simulation verification is required to avoid movement interference.
